Amesbury Primary - Churton Park's brand new school!!
14 January 2011
It is all go for the Amesbury Primary – Churton Parks Brand new school!
I am really looking forward to the opening of Amesbury Primary, this time next year. Churton Park and the other Northern Suburbs in the Ohariu electorate have been growing rapidly, providing numerous families to own their own home and build a community.
Pressure on the existing Churton Park School was identified as early as 2004, when Roger Ellis convened a public meeting with me to consider options for the future. We received a lot of feedback and ideas from the local community, so Roger and I went to work, looking carefully at the various alternatives. The following article outlines the process in more detail, but I just want to take this opportunity to congratulate all those that have been involved through the process and wish the best of luck to Dr Murrihy and her staff.
I have made visits to the existing Churton park School, three times in the last few months and in conversations with staff, pupils and parents, I sense a real sense of excitement within the community for the 2012 opening.
It's a good example of how a local MP can work with the local community and, in my unique political position, with Ministers of both goverments to achieve a positive outcome.
Full steam ahead for Amesbury Primary!!!
