Andrew McMillan – Rangitata

Andrew is a third generation West Coaster who has taken up residence in the lovely sea-side town of Timaru. Growing up on a dairy farm in the small settlement of Inchbonnie, Andrew learnt to love the outdoors, the importance of community involvement and that hard work has its rewards.

Andrew then went on to study at Saint Bede’s College and the University of Canterbury, where he obtained a science degree majoring in philosophy. He then started out in his career as a Software Developer before moving to Timaru and taking on a role with the local electricity distribution company, Alpine Energy.

Andrew has developed a real zest for politics over recent years and ran for the local Mayoralty in the 2010 Local Body Elections. He has a simple philosophy when it comes to politics: get involved in the community, be supportive of good work and don’t accept bad work.

Through his love of the outdoors, Andrew has developed a strong sense of responsibility around maintaining the environment at a level that will ensure future generations can continue to enjoy it to the fullest.

Andrew is very excited about being part of a party that is prepared to take a constructive role in Government, cherishes family values and has policy geared towards building a better future for all New Zealanders.
