Dunne: Clark clearly yearning for a more left-leaning Govt – 2008-10-06

UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne says the Prime Minister's comments today that she regrets the Greens being shut out of government for the past 3 years and that she'd welcome them into Cabinet after the election clearly shows she's hankering for a more left-leaning government.

"Greater Green influence on a Labour-led Government would mean bigger bills for Kiwi households from higher personal and business taxes; increased welfare spending; much greater tolerance of illegal drugs; the destruction of the New Zealand dairy industry; and a vastly expensive emissions trading scheme that would drive families into poverty and businesses into bankruptcy.

"They also want free health and education but oppose foreign trade so we won't be able to pay for it.

"The choices facing voters on November 8 are becoming clearer – we can have either a National or Labour-led Government driven by extremists from the fringes or a Government being guided by sensible, centrist parties like UnitedFuture," said Mr Dunne.
