Dunne opens new hospital facilities at Presbyterian Support’s Longview Home in Tawa
UnitedFuture leader and Ohariu MP Peter Dunne opened new hospital facilities at Presbyterian Support’s Longview Home in Tawa this afternoon.
In his remarks, Mr Dunne noted New Zealand’s ageing population, and the importance of strategies to encourage older people to be able to live in familiar surroundings for as long as possible.
“Residential facilities, supported by hospital-level care, are becoming more commonplace, and are now an important part of aged-care policy; UnitedFuture and the government support that approach,” said Mr Dunne.
“Longview has a proud history in Tawa over the last 26 years, and has attracted strong community support.”
“I continue to be impressed by the residential environment it provides, the warmth of its care, and the strong volunteer network working with it.”
“The addition of these new hospital facilities now means Longview is able to offer a continuum of care for its residents, from rest home through to hospital services, and I congratulate both Longview and Presbyterian Support’s Enliven Positive Ageing Services on this development,” said Mr Dunne.
To mark the occasion, Mr Dunne cut a celebratory cake and a special ribbon.
