Dunne pays tribute to KAKA founder Dave White – 2009-07-30 13:41:10.299

UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne has sent his condolences to the anti-1080 advocacy group KAKA (Karameans Advocating Kahurangi Action) for the passing of its founder Dave White.

“While I did not know Mr White personally, the legacy he has left behind with KAKA is a testament to the concern and passion he had for the West Coast and the anti-1080 campaign,” Mr Dunne said.

“From small beginnings KAKA has grown into an organisation with a great deal of influence not only on the West Coast, but nationally.

“The West Coast is very much the frontline of the national debate on aerial 1080 and KAKA has proven through decisive action and community support what can be achieved by those that refuse to turn a blind eye to the indiscriminate use of this poison.

“I trust all those involved in KAKA will continue to pursue Mr White’s dream of a 1080-free West Coast. I fully support them in their endeavours,” Mr Dunne said.
