Dunne: New school for Churton Park reward for years of hard work
18 March 2009
Ohariu MP and UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne today welcomed the announcement that a new primary school will be built in Churton Park, saying it was the culmination of years of community effort and commitment.
“This is a tremendously important boost to the people of Churton Park, which is a rapidly growing area.
“I have advocated for this for a considerable period of time and I know the strength of support it has in the community” Mr Dunne said.
He said that estimates of the need for places for another 600 primary school age children in the area by 2021 meant that a new school was the only real option.
“This is a growth area. People want to live here for good reason, and this is all about having the necessary infrastructure to support our families, and most importantly, our children and their futures,” he said.
