DUNNE PAYS TRIBUTE TO AGED CARE WORKERS

Ohariu MP Peter Dunne has paid tribute to and congratulated local aged care workers following the announcement of the $2 billion settlement of their pay equity claim.

“I have met with local aged care workers on a number of occasions, and have seen them at work in our local aged homes.

“I know first-hand of their dedication and commitment, and am delighted this settlement has been reached.

“The local workers I know are extraordinarily dedicated people for whom I have huge respect, and I know how much this settlement will mean to them,” he says.

Mr Dunne says the residents of local aged care facilities – Malvina Major, Churtonleigh, Johnsonvale, Cashmere and Aotea Hospitals – have always been well cared for, and this decision should give them and their families confidence that standard of care will continue into the future.
