Dunne: Vote for brains, not backbones and jackboots

UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne is urging voters to take heed of latest polling and think carefully before casting their vote on Saturday.
"It has become abundantly clear that a centre-right government is in the offing.
"Voters now have to decide what shape and form the new National-led government will take. I am confident that New Zealanders will vote for a centre-right, rather than an extreme right, government.
UnitedFuture has indicated that it would prefer to work with National.
"The size and role of the minor parties will determine the course of a National-led government.
"ACT represents a sharp turn to the right and ideologically extreme economic policies. It claims to be giving National a backbone, but really it's economic jackboots they're offering.
"A strong UnitedFuture presence, however, will provide a centrist moderating influence and draw National to a more compassionate middle course that will represent all New Zealanders.
"With the imminent demise of New Zealand First, UnitedFuture is now the only centrist party that will be represented in Parliament. ... Read the full text of this article.

Labour supporters should consider giving their party vote to United Future as an insurance policy against a Nats/Act government.

They would wise to make sure that the government does not lurch too far to the right!!

Plenty of votes coming from my corner too. A lot of people see the policies as first rate from United Future (needs based and common sense!), and like you say, also want to make sure the next government will stay on track. Its a win-win vote!

Today is the day. I am a undesided voter.

I have been to glassbooth.org and clicked NZ
and filled in all the info.

I got NZ first then United Future so here I am.

Well I know whini has nine lives but he is not
for me! and not going to make it in !

I have been to ABC Australia for an international
look at what's going on

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/11/07/2413152.htm

and there are several other good bits at ABC also on NZ. ABC think Labour is a spent force so how
can I slow down National excesives. Of course
I will split my vote ! but thats another story

Peter Dunn is the Man

I just saw the election returns this morning. I have very mixed feelings about the result. I am obviously glad that Peter will be part of the new government, and I am so-o-o-o very glad to see the last of Winston Peters (!!!!)

On the other hand, I am very sorry indeed to see that Judy Turner will not be in the next Parliament. She has been a strong, effective voice for traditional family values, and her contribution will be sorely missed.
