Govt will not back off regulating synthetic cannabis industry

The synthetic cannabis industry’s “poacher turned game-keeper” offer today to suddenly self-regulate is welcome, but the Government will go ahead with law changes in the next few weeks to restrict the sale and marketing of their products, Associate Health Minister Peter Dunne said today.
“When any group that has for years done absolutely nothing to help keep the users of its products safe suddenly wants to self-regulate, then you know one of two things has happened – it has either developed a conscience, or it can see a drastic impact on its cash flow.

Why are you making amendments on the misuse of drugs act when it is currently under review anyway?

The best option to make synthetic cannabis go away it to legalise natural cannabis and have it sold in specialised retail outlets.

There should be a card you apply for, just like an 18+ card and you may purchase cannabis with it ... alcohol should also be sold like this, away from children's eyes.

Each purchase the card should be scanned and on the computer screen details of the amounts previously purchased... with a weekly limit to tackle drug and alcohol abuse.

If someone gets arrested or similar, they get sent to the "Drug court (recommended in the MODA law commissions report)" then there card gets suspended for a particular amount of time... depending on offense and presence of drugs and alcohol in the offending.

This IMO is the best way to regulate drugs and punish those who abuse them and waist police time.

Just think how much alcohol related crime will go down if people know the will get a ban on buying booze if caught!
