I am nearly 60 and do not feel near retirement age. I hope to carry on fro another 10 years and want this to be my choice, not the governments.

The reality is that one retirement age does not suit all. Most would anticipate working as long as possible; this carries benefits both for the individual as well as the state, but the option of retiring earlier needs to be there for those in need of early retirement.
