There has been some interesting, low volume noise over a proposed plan to link Hamilton with Tauranga using a 4-lane highway, via a tunnel through the Kaimai Ranges.

Immediately I thought this is an excellent idea, because Tainui Holdings have recently sought Resource Consent for their Inland Port project at Ruakura  Put that project in mind along with the Highway 29 link makes perfect economic and social sense. Who wants to go to the beach in half the time it takes now? I do! Tourism is also on that chart too. Jobs would most certainly expand.

I will keep you posted on this, as I research a bit more – but as a UnitedFuture candidate, I would support such a project if it could be done soon rather than later.
