Winter finally caught up with us, but keeping busy always helps. Here is a brief snapshot of what I have been doing in Ohariu over the last few weeks:
- Held electorate clinics in Newlands, Tawa, Maungaraki and Johnsonville
- collected for Wellington City Mission in Johnsonville
- attended the annual general meetings of the Newlands Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Normandale Residents Association, the Glenside Residents' Association and the Johnsonville Bowling Club
- Visited Johnsonville West and Churton Park Kindergartens
- Made home visits to constituents in Khandallah and Tawa
- Held radio talkback shows on Newland’s One Eyed FM (11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays on 107.7 FM)
- Met with Onslow College students to discuss a geography projec.
- Attended meetings of the Onslow and Tawa Historical Societies
- Opened the refurbished library complex at Newlands Intermediate School
- Presented the awards at Newlands Intermediate School’s end of term Celebration evening.
- Visited Challenge 2000 and the Salvation Army in Johnsonville - two great community organisations.
- attended Tawa Rotary’s Annual Book Fair.
- Chaired meetings of the North Wellington Voluntary Service Awards Committee to determine this year’s award recipients. The quality and quantity of nominations has been outstanding this year.
- Visited holiday programmes run by the Onslow and North Wellington Junior Football Clubs, and the Johnsonville Library. Great to see that local oragnisations are providing activities for local childern during the school holidays.
