Labour/Greens = No Transmission Gully
29 October 2008

Ohariu-Belmont MP Peter Dunne says today's announcement by the Prime Minister that Labour is prepared to start spending up big on Wellington's rail network seems to be official confirmation that the Greens have taken over Labour's transport policy.

"The Prime Minister's statement contains no mention of the capital's most urgent infrastructure need – the Transmission Gully motorway link north of Wellington – which would appear to indicate Labour will sacrifice its support for the Gully route in order to satisfy the Green's demands for more rail and cycleways and no more roading.

"This is an alarming development for Wellington motorists and businesses and emphasizes that a party vote for UnitedFuture – the most consistent supporter of the Gully route – is the best way to ensure future governments will make a solid commitment to building this vital part of Wellington's infrastructure," said Mr Dunne.
