Northern Suburbs a Supermarket Shopper's Paradise

The Ohariu electorate is set to become a supermarket shopper’s paradise, according to Ōhariu MP, Peter Dunne.

Mr Dunne, who will open Countdown’s new Crofton Downs supermarket on Thursday says this will be the fourth new supermarket* to open in the northern suburbs in the last two years , and will complement existing supermarkets in Tawa, Johnsonville and Khandallah.

“I congratulate both Countdown and New World for their investment in the northern suburbs, and I hope that the competition between them will be good for local shoppers and leave them spoiled for choice.

“Between them, the eight local supermarkets provide jobs for several hundred local people, and are very significant contributors to our local economy and communities,” he says.

Mr Dunne says that opening Countdown’s new supermarket at the entry to Tawa was one of his first engagements for 2013, and the opening of the Crofton Downs will be one of his last for the year.
