UnitedFuture is welcoming news that the Government will accept the recommendations made in a report by the independent panel to address walking access issues.
"This is a small but important step in improving the rights of the public to have walking access, while ensuring the rights of New Zealand landowners," says UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne.
UnitedFuture secured an agreement from Labour in their confidence and supply agreement, for improvements to public access along rivers, lakes outdoor areas.
"While early days, this is a positive step, and I am optimistic that this could signify a giant leap for both outdoor enthusiasts, and landowners alike.
"The recommendations of the panel have come about from a long and thorough consultation process. I am confident that their recommendations represent the way forward, and thousands of Kiwis will enjoy good access to New Zealand's great outdoors," says Mr Dunne.
