UNITED ATTACKS POLITICAL OPPOSITION TO SUPERANNUATION 2000 TASK FORCE

United New Zealand leader, Hon Peter Dunne, has attacked political parties opposing the Superannuation 2000 Task Force.

He says they are perpetuating the uncertainty over superannuation and are putting their narrow political interests ahead of the national interest.

"The history of the last 20 years shows that politicians have been incapable of building a sustainable superannuation system."

"Political infighting has stymied every attempt so far," he says.

Mr Dunne says New Zealanders are fed up with the ongoing political game playing over superannuation.

"An independent Task Force, free from political machination, is the only way to restore even a semblance of credibility on this issue."

"Political parties who are shunning the Task Force are simply proving they have misunderstood the public mood of anger at 20 years of political game playing over superannuation," he says.
