PRIME MINISTER'S CUNNING PLAN HAS MANY POSSIBILITIES

United New Zealand Party leader, Hon Peter Dunne, says the Prime Minister's "cunning plan" for dealing with problem public servants has many exciting future possibilities.

"Why stop at Peter Doone?"

"There are many other uneasy partnerships we can look forward to, under the guise of public servants working out their notice."

"For example, we can presumably now expect to see:

  • Christine Rankin working in a corner of Steve Maharey's office advising him to restructure WINZ's corporate image

  • Victoria University Vice Chancellor Michael Irving sitting somewhere in Trevor Mallard's office telling him how to run effective staff relations

  • The entire board of Timberlands West Coast camped in Pete Hodgson's office helping him run forestry policy."

"The possibilities are truly endless - congratulations Prime Minister for so brilliantly restoring the old values of the classroom trouble makers' corner to public life."

"It is a cunning plan worthy of Baldrick at his best, and deserving of as much credibility," Mr Dunne says.
