Ron Garrod-Party Secretary

Born in the sunny Hawke’s Bay, Ron and his wife Pam lived and worked for 34 year in Wellington before settling in the Wairarapa. Although business still sees Ron regularly in Wellington, he is enjoying the freedom of the outdoors life-style, of farming, fishing and golf.

After a 14-year career in the NZ Police, Ron became involved on the board of several private companies, the owner operator of a motel and hotel business, and a financial services company. This has lead to a special interest in corporate governance.

Ron has been involved in the community and politics at many levels over the years both in Wellington and the Wairarapa. He is currently a trustee of the Eastern and Central Community Trust and involved in other community and sports organisations.

As a board member of United Future, he believes in the importance of a strong centralist party, where robust and sensible policy can be developed, while responsibly exercising a balance, between the excesses of the two major players. A growing membership with a strong financial base is imperative.
