Transmission Gully
United Future Leader Peter Dunne has been a long time campaigner for the Transmission Gully motorway north of Wellington. The Confidence and Supply Agreement with United Future enabled the Labour Government to set aside the necessary central government funding for Transmission Gully in Budget 2006. United Future's Confidence and Supply Agreement with National in 2008 focused on proceeding with Transmission Gully, as a public private partnership if necessary
Since then, the Government has agreed to designate Transmission Gully as one of its Roads of National Significance, meaning that the project will be fully Crown funded. The Government has also fast tracked the planning process so that it now looks likely construction of the highway will begin by 2015 and be completed around 2020.
