UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne has given his support to the Children’s Covenant launched today by Aotearoa New Zealand MMXVII.

The Covenant recognises that children should be at the centre of all-policy making, and that all children should be protected from violence, abuse and neglect, and are entitled to a decent standard of living.

“The Children’s Covenant reflects core UnitedFuture values, which we have long and consistently promoted, so it is to be welcomed.

“The challenge now is to work collaboratively, with other political parties, iwi, the institutions of society and the wider community to make the Covenant’s commitments reality for the children of our country.

“UnitedFuture is ready to play its part in that regard,” Mr Dunne says.

Mr Dunne has expressed his congratulations to Judge Carolyn Henwood and Sir Mark Solomon for their work in developing the Covenant.

“If we cannot look after our children properly, our country has no hope and no future,” Mr Dunne says.
