
Ōhāriu is an urban electorate, covering the northern suburbs of Wellington. It includes the Wellington suburbs of Wadestown, Crofton downs, Chartwell, Ngaio, Khandallah, Johnsonville, Newlands Paparangi, Grenada Village, and Grenada North, Horokiwi, the Ohariu Valley, as well as most of Tawa.
Previously the electorate included the Korokoro, Maungaraki, Normandale, Harbour View and Tirohanga areas of Lower Hutt. From the 2014 General Election those areas moved to the Hutt South electorate. Ōhāriu has the largest number of 30-49-year-olds in the country, and the highest number of families earning between $60,001 and $150,000 per year. 80% of its population is New Zealand European, 10% Asian and 6% Māori.
Peter Dunne has been MP for Ohariu (previously known as Onslow and Ohariu Belmont) since July 1984, serving as a Labour MP until 1994, and representing United (now UnitedFuture) since 1994.
Constituent Appoinments
Peter holds regular Saturday morning and Monday morning clinics at his electorate offices where he is available to meet constituents. Appointments to meet him can be made through either of his electorate offices.
