Who Supports United Future?

AUTHOR: Denise Krum

As I wrote my speech for this year’s conference, I began to wonder about the type of people that belong to United Future and volunteer their rare and precious time for us. I decided to email a few people out in the regions and ask them what they like about United Future and what they do in their spare time.

The feedback I received was astounding. Of those who were able to respond to my informal survey, their commitment to their local communities blew me away – (so much for the “spare time”!)

Our theme for the conference was “Supporting Those Who Support Others” and I am incredibly proud to be President of a party where it’s members embody that maxim in their daily lives.

Read on for the community groups who receive support from just a smattering of our regional volunteers:

People whose personal lives model “support of others” are influencing this party. That’s a good thing, a great thing. We are not a party of political hacks who sit in Wellington offices all day and rate Parliament TV above CSI & Grey’s Anatomy. We’re a party that understands, knows, and lives out the “support of others”. We take the privilege of being in parliament seriously and supporting charities and non-profit organizations in the best way we know how to build up communities.
