We understand clearly that the only reason for our existence is to represent the voice of the people in our parliament. We believe that any party that is not constantly in touch with the views of the people is simply not doing its job. If you ban fireworks, your just ruining one of the most fun times of the whole year for all of us!
Posted by DONT BAN FIREWORKS 2009-03-18 20:51:03.607I agree with Ben Jones on this one. I used firecrackers and sparklers when I was a boy, and neither I nor anyone else ever got hurt doing so.
Life is inherently risky. Young boys take risks - that is what young boys do. What are we going to do next - pass a law against sunlight because someone might get sunburned? Please!
How about encouraging things like the Boy Scouts (which I was a member of as a boy)? Once upon a time, young boys were actually taught how to manage risk responsibly. When I was 12 years old, my father took me out into the woods in hunting season, and taught me how to handle a rifle safely. Nowadays, when I tell people this, they react with hysterical horror.
My apologies for being so sarcastic about this, but I simply cannot believe we are actually having this conversation. Reality is becoming a caricature of fiction, rather then the other way around.
Give this one a rest.

As will all things, it is possible to hurt yourself while using them, its not easy but it is possible. But people get hurt in every facet of life, why is it fair to pick on fireworks? I think it is just media hype in reality.
