We believe that any party that is not constantly in touch with the views of the people is simply not doing its job. • I would have liked to think it could be dignified but I am already disillusioned by the Prime Minister's opening salvos. Firstly, she used the date announcement as a political platform for Labour and since then has made personal snipes at John Key particularly. Let's hope other parties will not stoop so low.

Thank you to Peter Dunne for showing that campaigning can be done (no pun intended!) with focus, humour and integrity.

  • However much we may have distaste for the excesses of MMP, it is a fact we have to live with and we have to work within it. Never again do I want to live under a Government that is a sole party regime. The quote from Bob Jones is a very fair summation of the thinking of 'thinking' New Zealanders and we pray that this will be borne out on November 8th.

My wife and I believe that there is a huge distinction between being a politician and being a parliamentarian! The former subscribe to the popular view 'what's in it for me'. The latter support the overarching principle 'what's best for the country'. This is best summed up in the famous quote of the late President John F. Kennedy, 'Think not what your country can do for you but rather what you can do for your country'.

  • two party contest is a dying breed of arrogance that is rabid and insentitive to New Zealanders who want mature adults to lead this country. The quiet ones like UnitedFuture will shine a bit more now that many will ask that important question: who else is there? Mainstream media will need to focus more on the smaller parties or disparity of representing the news will happen yet again this election.

  • The Bob Jones quote on the left says it all. A more obvious observation could not be made.
