UnitedFuture to side with National

UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne announced today that his party will support a National-led Government after the November 8 election.

Following a meeting with National leader John Key at Parliament this morning, Mr Dunne said New Zealand is confronted with some stark economic realities at this election.

"We have looked at the policies the two major parties are offering the country and it is our view that the National Party's proposals more closely align with UnitedFuture's policies at this critical time.

"It is also our view that New Zealand is looking for a change in direction and UnitedFuture wants to be a part of, and make a constructive contribution to, that change."

Private sector involvement in elective surgery, PPPs for infrastructure, law&order etc are all currently National or ACT Party policies. These issues are not a reason for people to give their votes to UF over and above National.
It might be an idea to talk up core UF policies such as Income Splitting or Character Education? These types of uniquely UF policies are a reason to party vote UF.

I too would like to see more discussion and high profile talk on family issues and family education in schools/ relationship skills are an early warning and mature way of thinking about our future - I hope that we can maintain a clear voice on this without being too blended with Nationals views. Please don't be afraid to speak up on the recognition of life in the womb. I agree with liberalcentrist - income splitting is crucial to our struggling famlies- Australia is way ahead of us here - high tax is forcing families to send the second partner back to work - and putting the bond with the kids at risk.
