Sir Ed: yes I believe this would be a very good idea-that is to have a national day for Sir Ed. I also think we should raise the profile of his charity work-he was inspiring and so by raising the profile we all would learn two important things in life. 1. Life is short-don't waste it. 2.Give a bit more than normal it makes everyone touched special, their self-esteem woken up and it makes us think twice about self interest.

I had a constituent send me this idea as a way of spending a Sir Ed day ... there are certainly some interesting ideas floating round!
"Achievers Day"
This will get away away from thrm the Hero aspect wich narrows the field.
We should be venerating NZ'ers who have brought NZ to the world's notice with their achievements in such things as, writing, political, sporting, social as well as overcoming supposedly insummountable odds.

yes ! best time to have it. we no him as the legend the concered mt everst. why should we have it on his birthday thats what the news has been telling us. having a national day like this will keep his spirt around us. if we dont have one the memerory of him will fade in time to come.

This has been going on since the day Sir Edmund Hillary died, in our newspapers,our radio and TV.
Has anyone considered what Sir Ed would have wanted instead of what everyone else wants?
For now let this humble man rest in peace.
