Asset Sales

The National has a manifesto that includes asset sales. New Zealanders need to start a proper debate on the future limits of those sales.
To this point there has not been a proper national debate beyond National saying 'yes' and Labour saying 'no'.
We need a conversation that is more detailed and drills down into what New Zealanders really think are acceptable bottom lines.
New Zealanders are not definitively pro-asset sales, but under certain conditions, it is no longer the bogeyman issue that Labour would have you believe.
UnitedFuture’s role as a support partner is not just to contribute its own policies, but to help keep a government to a reasonable, centrist path.

I'm not in favour of Asset sales especially when it comes to Energy generators. (The price of wholesale electricity could rise faster). I don't mind Air New Zealand being sold. I want a centre right coalition to form a government after the election. There is one clear policy of National's that I have my suspisions about which would probably change my vote. How about a share loyalty scheme being sealed as part of the package. This would help sweeten the deal for centerist voters.

I'm in favour of ACC being opened up to competition for work place insurance.

I am not in favour of asset sales and I think there needs to be a lot more thorough, with a much higher level of investigation about the possible implications.

I have a concern that the sale of assets might include those assets that hold up to 35 year consents to hold or take the water out of our rivers, and out of our geothermal resources. Basically selling our water along with the asset.

Can you make sure that the restrictions on the sale of assets that are associated with the taking and use of water are not also sold ? It would be unfortunate if we end up having to buy back water from privately owned assets in order to keep it clean and flowing.
