Judy rocks the House!

Deputy leader Judy Turner surprised everyone with a smart move in the House that saw her Member's Bill placed on Parliament's Order Paper relating to the right of fathers to have DNA tests to determine the parentage of their children.

==Family Proceedings (Paternity Orders and Parentage Tests) Amendment Bill==

Member’s Bill

Explanatory note

The purposes of this Bill are to enable a male who has reasonable grounds to believe he either is or is not the father of a child to make an application for a paternity order; and to empower the Family Court to order that a buccal sample be taken from a child whose parentage is at issue or any person who may be the natural parent so that a parentage test can be carried out in respect of that child.

I see Judy Turner's Bill as a great step forward if it succeeds, and it should succeed. Tonight Cindy Kiro was on TV One news. Her comment was about how having a custodial parent in jail could impact upon children. Not a peep about how having a custodial parent who is deceiving the children, telling lies and shutting down the other parent, can also be negative to children. Who is she fighting for? children?, or ...
Judy's Bill is a vast improvement for the rights of children, parents and extended family. All have a right to absolutely know who their parents, children or grand children really are. The current situation endulges dishonesty and irresponsibility. Children have a right to both parents. Children have a right to parents who don't cheat and tell lies. Children have a right to parents who teach them by example. Examples like telling the truth, and taking responsibility.

The only aspect of Judy's Bill I think could be improved is that I believe DNA testing should be automatic and universal. Yes I know there are "Big Brother" or "Big Sister" concerns, but I believe those horses bolted long ago.

If DNA tests were automatic, the parentage would be verified upon the Birth Certificate. This would reveal problems without recriminations to any dad who for any reason thought it worth checking. And mothers who are not scamming those they should love, have nothing to fear.

I am happy to support Judy's Bill.

If Cindy Kiro was at all concerned about children, she would be concerned about the parents who use their children for financial gains.
Every child has a right to know who their natural parents are.Even sperm donors names now have to be on their birth certificates.
When a custodial parent lies to such an extent that a child's future is in jeopardy, that parent deserves to be imprisoned.

I am pleased to say I support this bill 100%.

I know someone who doubted the truthfulness of what his wife was saying when she said he was the father of the child she carried. This person I know found out she had been having an affair with someone while he was away a lot and so he could not have been the father.

How many are there with stories like this? I think this is an important bill because it will make everyone wake up when it comes to putting children in the middle of adult games.

Bravo Judy!
