Dunne detests Parliament’s ‘stalactites’

UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne is appalled by the sudden eruption of six cylindrical stalactites from the ceiling of Parliament’s debating chamber.

“The restoration of Parliament’s buildings has rightly been praised as an architectural and aesthetic triumph,” he says, “but now the debating chamber has been ruined by the sudden emergence of these giant cylinders hanging precariously over the heads of MP’s.

“The cylinders are apparently hiding giant speakers intended to improve sound reception in the public galleries but they are an ugly intrusion in the chamber and a visual abomination.

“I’m also told they aren’t even working yet and won’t be until after the election – so they are not only ugly to contemplate but also they are serving no useful purpose.

“They’ve got to go,” says Mr Dunne.

Just whose 'heads' are these 'directly' hung above might be the question to ask? Might not be such a bad thing after all..unless it's above oneself!
Perhaps there could be a reason, pending a possible building shaking, stalactite releasing Wellington central earth quake to leave them there & let those 'below' them lobby for their removal. Will they need a rise to pay to cover their possible increases in ACC levies due to the dangerous new nature of the work they are being exposed to?

OSH must have something to say about 'mitigating' any & all practical measures to ensure "safety in the work place!"
