United Future leader Peter Dunne has swung his support behind the pressure group, Debate Air New Zealand, which is calling on the Government to delay taking a position on the proposed Air New Zealand-Qantas takeover until after the Commerce Commission has examined the deal.
“This proposal is too important to the New Zealand economy to be subjected to over-hasty decision-making,” said Mr Dunne.
“Debate Air New Zealand is quite right in saying that there is a need for the public to be fully involved in deciding this issue, not just a few officials, government Ministers and chief executives.
“This is the New Zealand taxpayer’s airline, after all,” he said.
